The Pelican Centre

The Pelican Centre has served as a hub of the Tyldesley and Atherton neighbourhoods since 2012. It improves people’s social, mental, and physical well-being by offering assistance, companionship, and charity.

Our swimming pool, gym, classes, and community spaces are all inexpensive, accessible, and self-funded. We are also entirely autonomous, legally recognised nonprofits. They aid you in achieving your fitness objectives.

In Tyldesley, Atherton, and Astley, there are top-notch, spotless, and comprehensive leisure and fitness facilities.

The Pelican Centre has a gym, a pool, and classes available.
Since 2012, Feel Good Fitness has served the entire community.

The Pelican Centre received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020, also known as the MBE for nonprofits. It is run by committed employees, volunteers, and trustees. A swimming pool, fully-stocked gym, and a classroom are available as amenities. For meetings and small groups, there are additional communal rooms available.

The Majestic Cinema, which had 950 seats, occupied the structure when it first stood in 1923. It was converted into Tyldesley Swimming Pool in 1964. After the Pelican Centre was in danger of closing in 2011, a neighbourhood community organisation took over operation of the facility.

We take great pride in being the biggest independent charity facility in Wigan Borough. In order to promote community ownership of necessary amenities, we also collaborate closely with single-site centres around the nation.
